Controlling the ball for most of the first half of the game, the St. Augustine Jackets got the first touchdown on a short run by sophomore running back Martrell Story, #9. The Jackets were without a kicker and had to try to convert extra points by running plays from scrimmage, instead kicking. After missing the extra point play attempt, the Jackets led 6-0. The Jackets continued the control of the ball in the second quarter and marched down the field with a strong running game led by Storey and Varius Woodard – #4, and a 22 yard pass from quarterback Austin Reed – #7, to Karim Brown – #8, to get the ball into scoring position inside the Bears 5 yard line.
