Austin Reed and the Sebastian Middle School football team loses to Indian Trails Middle School (Palm Coast, FL)

For the fifth game of the season (held on Wednesday, September 26th), Austin Reed and the Sebastian Middle School (St. Augustine) Eagles football team ran into a very physical Indian Trails Middle School (Palm Coast) Mustangs football team with the game being held at Matanza’s High School in Palm Coast, FL.  There is not a whole lot to report about the game that was heavily dominated by Indian Trails who finished the game with a 41 – 0 win.

Austin played quarterback for the complete game managing excellent ball control for a Sebastian running game that was unable to get in the end zone.  Austin also played middle linebacker, long snap on the punt team and played on both kick-off and receiving special teams.  The Eagles now fall to 2 -3 on the season looking forward to a home game on Thursday, October 4th, against the Buddy Taylor Middle School Eagles (Palm Coast) at Joe Pomar Field in St. Augustine.

Austin Reed helps lead the Sebastian Middle School Eagles over the Switzerland Point MS Raiders 28 – 21

On Thursday, September 20th, the Sebastian Middle School Eagles of St. Augustine (2-2) defeated the previous St. Johns Middle School Athletic Association champions Switzerland Point Middle School Raiders 28 – 21.  During this game Austin Reed played Quarterback and Inside Middle Linebacker, as well as serving on special teams and providing long snap for the Punt Team.  As Quarterback, Austin completed 5 passes for 5 attempts for almost 100 yards, one touchdown pass to Alex Mueck and another 40 yard pass to Alex down to the 1 yard line where Austin ran it in on the next play.  Austin also completed two passes to Andre Robinson for about 30 yards and ran in a two point conversion that is featured in the posted YouTube video.

On defense, Austin recorded a number of tackles, including a back field tackle on the running back for a 5 yard loss, and a solo game saving tackle recorded when Swiss Point was driving the ball with time running out on the last drive of the game.  The next game for Austin Reed and the Sebastian Middle School Eagles is against Indian Trails Middle School scheduled on Wednesday, September 26th @ Matanza’s High School in Palm Coast.

Game 3 features Austin Reed at QB and MLB for first win for Sebastian Middle School Eagles

Game three of the season for Austin Reed and the Sebastian Middle School Eagles football team, held on September 13th, resulted in a 28 – 8 win over the cross-town rivals Gamble Rodgers Middles School Stingrays football team.  Austin started at Quarterback on offense and inside Middle Linebacker on defense.  At quarterback, Austin lead the offense on a series of time consuming drives feature running backs Montrell, Billy and Andre Robinson.  Austin also connected with Andre Robinson on the last play of the second quarter on a 35 yard touchdown pass followed by a two point conversion to take a 16 – 0 lead in the game.

At Middle Linebacker, Austin helped the defense to record it’s first shutout of the season as Gamble Rodgers only score came on a punt return in the third quarter followed by a two point conversion.  The final score of the game came on an interception return on the last play of the game by Andre Robinson.  Austin finished the game as the winning quarterback going 1 – 2 (35 yards, 1 TD) on offense, and recording over 7 tackles as middle linebacker on defense.  Watch the video to see Austin’s touchdown pass to Andre:

Summary of first two games for the Fall 2012

The first game of the 2012 season began with a Powerhouse match up in the St. Augustine High School Football Stadium against defending league champion Murray Middle School Bulldogs.  The final score of the game (41 – 0) does not show how well the Sebastian Middle School football team and Austin played on offense.  Austin started the game at running back and middle linebacker.  While the explosive Murray offense scored all of their points on a limited number of plays, the offensive time of possession was dominated by the Sebastian Eagles.  Austin ran 6 times for about 25 yards and had a couple of tackles on defense.

The second game of the season was on September 6th against the Liberty Pines Academy Wolfpack football team, who pulled off a 22 – 0 win in a rain soaked game that feature Austin playing Middle Linebacker on defense and running back on offense.  Austin was moved to long snapper for the punt team to give his team an added edge with the long snap.  Austin also relieved Trevor Stevens at Quarterback in the 4th quarter after Trevor suffered a back injury during the game and had to come out.
